Start: Saturday, January 27, 2024 6:00 PM

Please join us THIS Saturday 27th January for a community event to mark:

Holocaust Memorial Day: Historical Memory and Collective Liberation

We will bring together diverse voices to collectively commemorate and reflect on the Holocaust, persecution and genocide. In the face of catastrophic suffering and trauma, both past and present, we draw strength from a Jewish, universalist ethic and a commitment to the sanctity of all human life, freedom and equality.

We will have guest speakers to reflect on Jewish, Bosnian, Palestinian, Roma and Sinti, and Uyghur experiences.

Confirmed speakers are:

  1. Jewish activist, educator and writer; co-organiser of educational trips to Auschwitz for trade unionists and anti-racist activists; lecturer on the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising David Rosenberg
  2. Bosnian genocide survivor, researcher and educator; author of Letters from Diaspora: Stories of War and its Aftermath Arnesa Buljušmić-Kustura
  3. Reader in postcolonial literature; author of The Palestinian Novel: From 1948 to the Present Dr. Bashir Abu-Mannah
  4. Historian of the Sinti and Roma and of modern Germany; founding editor of the journal The Holocaust in History and Memory Professor Rainer Shulze
  5. President of the advocacy organisation UK Uyghur Community and activist Maira Aisa

The event will be both at a venue in London and online. Venue capacity is very limited, so please ensure you attend and contact us if you cannot.

Please register using the form on this page to receive the full details.

From the venue: The space is on ground floor and is fairly accessible, but sadly we do not have a fully accessible toilet.
