Belonging in this Land: Treaty Basics from a Christian Perspective

Conversation about the Treaty is happening all around us, and the Treaty Principles Bill will soon come up for discussion. What a great time to refresh our understanding and plug our knowledge gaps so that we can participate meaningfully in these conversations.

We are launching a two-part video education series for people to host in their faith community. It's called 'Belonging in our land - Treaty basics from a Christian perspective'.

Could you host a small group to watch these videos together, over two sessions?

Fill out the form on the right to express interest in hosting a group in May or June. These could be run over two dessert evenings, for instance.

We will provide videos and discussion questions for 2x 90-minute sessions. Presenters in the videos will be reputable Christian voices, both Māori and Tangata Tiriti (non-Māori).

What's involved with hosting? A host will:
  • Choose dates for two sessions. We recommend a max gap of 2 weeks between the sessions.
  • Find a venue and organise refreshments. A person's home or a room in your church would be ideal.
  • Invite people using the trailer video.
  • Read the hosts' notes before the sessions.
  • During the sessions, play the videos then lead the group through discussion questions.

Fill in this form to express interest, and we'll then take you through step by step the process for organising, confirming and promoting these sessions.

Join us on this exciting learning opportunity to dive into our story as a nation.

The videos will be subtitled to include people hard of hearing. We don't currently have plans to provide sign language interpreting, but are open to exploring this if there is interest.
