Houston United: Building Bridges Not Walls

Start: Friday, January 20, 2017 at 4:00 PM GMT

This is a virtual event

Houston Unites vs. Trump Agenda

While Donald Trump is inaugurated Friday morning in Washington DC, unions, civil rights organizations, immigrant groups, and community organizations will unite in downtown Houston to jointly declare our intention to fight for all communities at risk under the incoming Trump administration.

Hundreds of people are expected to gather at Sesquicentennial Park at 10 a.m. Friday to mark the start of the resistance movement that will be needed to keep our communities safe, free and thriving.

We will send the message that Houston Builds Bridges, Not Walls. We will vow to ourselves and each other that we will not let them take away our workplace rights, health care, public schools, and civil rights without a fight.

Parking:

City of Houston permit parking is available on the street and in the old post office west lot. Or take the light rail to the Preston Street station and walk west on Preston 10 minutes to the park.

Marching Route:

The 1 mile march will be on sidewalks east on Preston, south on Milam, west on Walker, and north on Bagby back to Sesquicentennial Park.
