How to Prevent Burnout

The focus of this workshop is on preventing burnout. Our aim is to leave participants with an understanding and awareness of burnout in their own lives, and equip them with useful tools to prevent it going forward. This 1.5h workshop will be facilitated virtually, through Zoom. It is designed to be an interactive and participatory experience.

LEARN: Understand what burnout is, and why and how it impacts us

  • Burnout: What is burnout and why does it happen?
  • Grounding exercise: A short exercise to ground team members, and rejuvenate their mental and emotional capacities.
  • Develop awareness of burnout: How to recognize burnout in self and others, and prevent it before it happens.

REFLECT: Identify what burnout looks like and feels like for you and develop awareness.

  • Reflect on your burnout: What burnout looks like and feels like for each of us.
  • Identify your cues and signals: Identify what your stress cues, signals, and symptoms
    of burnout are.

PREVENT: Tools and strategies for preventing burnout.

  • Complete the stress cycle: Learn about the stress response cycle and how it impacts
    burnout.
  • Act on your stress cues: Map out your stress cues and take action on them
