How To Stop An Oilfield - Stirling

Start: Sunday, November 26, 2023 2:00 PM

End: Sunday, November 26, 2023 4:00 PM

In September, the UK Government approved the development of Equinor’s Rosebank oilfield, which, if it goes ahead, would be the biggest oilfield in the North Sea.

Burning the oil and gas from the North Sea's Rosebank oilfield would create more CO2 than the combined emissions of all 28 low-income countries in the world. In other words, the climate pollution from this one UK field would be more than the 700 million people in the world’s poorest countries create in a year. Now is the time to come together and tell the UK Government that we won't accept the approval of Rosebank.

To #StopRosebank, we need people across the UK taking action and putting pressure on decision makers. Join us in Stirling to discuss and plan ideas for how we can make this happen in our city. This is a public meeting, not a presentation; we'll talk briefly about the campaign so far but the majority of the time will be spent on action planning. Bring your energy and ideas!

Logistics:

Please register in advance so we can have an idea of numbers, and to ensure we don't exceed the maximum capacity of the room. We will be using room C.2A7 in the Cottrell Building of the University

Please get in touch if you have any questions or access needs.

This event is organised by Global Justice Stirling and Stop Rosebank. Stop Rosebank is an informal coalition space bringing together a wide civil society effort of grassroots groups, NGOs, and individuals to fight against new oil and gas projects and for a just transition from fossil fuels to renewables using a broad variety of tactics.
