So you've been organizing with your group for a while, and it's starting to feel like some structure would help you to stay organized and achieve your goals. Or maybe your group is brand new, and you want to set it up for success by establishing key roles. Some of the most common questions from Future Ground Network members include, "Is it worth it for us to become a registered charity? What's the difference between a charity and a non-profit? Should we have a board? How do we get insurance?"
In response, we're thrilled to be offering this overview on "How to Structure Your Group," facilitated by Maggie Knight, an experienced strategist and operations generalist with roots in the climate justice movement who has built expertise in leading and growing organizations doing cutting-edge advocacy.
We'll review some of the key differences between different governance and legal structures and talk about how to navigate decisions about group structure in the context of your goals, strategies and ethics. Come prepared with questions and ready to engage with Maggie and each other so that we can use some of this time for direct support!
Note: This webinar is intended for Future Ground Network members. Make sure that 1-3 members of the local group you organize with have signed our local group agreement.
