Humboldt Bay on the Threshold of Change
350 Humboldt presents environmental planner Aldaron Laird in a Zoom presentation on Monday, June 7, at 7 p.m.
Humboldt Bay has the highest rate of sea level rise on the West Coast. In the next 40 years this will cause dramatic and sometimes catastrophic changes to the North Coast area. While rising sea levels are certain, we can choose how we adapt to them.
Aldaron will discuss the best available science as to the bay's rise, where impacts are most likely to occur and what is at risk, and who is responding to the threat of local sea level rise.
Aldaron Laird is a local environmental planner with 40 years’ experience researching California coastal waters. More recently he has focused on sea level rise on Humboldt Bay and is the leading expert on this topic.
This event is cosponsored by the Northcoast Environmental Center, Environmental Protection Information Center, the North Group of the Sierra Club's Redwood Chapter, Coalition for Responsible Transportation Priorities, and the Climate Action Campaign of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.
