Abolish ICE Rally and March Orange County, CA

Start: Thursday, June 14, 2018 5:00 PM

End: Thursday, June 14, 2018 8:00 PM

Abolish ICE OC.

.

For the last 17 years, in the name of “promoting homeland security and public safety”, Immigration Customs Enforcement has been terrorizing our immigrant community by practicing inhuman and unjust actions of tearing families apart, infringing basic constitutional/human rights and physically and mentally abusing detainees. Everyday mothers, fathers, children and their loved ones live in the fear of being separated as a consequence of seeking for a better life. The recent tragedies of murder of Claudia Patricia Gómez González, death of asylum seeker Roxana Hernández and separation of thousands of parents and children as a result of Jeff Sessions’ “zero tolerance policy”, have reminded us that there are way too many victims, and we must act now to end this continuous suffering and torments of our immigrant community members by calling for the abolishment of ICE.

No law is above justice and humanity. Human rights is a universal standard. The incessant infringements of human rights and abuses will not stop until ICE is abolished because it is an institution established to penalize human beings for fleeing danger and seeking for a better life. To bring an end to the injustice to our immigrant community, we must abolish ICE and hold them accountable for all the inhumane actions they have committed.

On June 14th, we will gather in front of Morrison Park in Santa Ana at 5pm to March to Theo Lacy Detention Center across from The Block/Outlets at Orange and announce our demands to the OC Board of Supervisors to keep ICE completely out of OC and completely shut down Theo Lacy Detention Center and return all the detainees home. At the same time we will demand nationally the abolishment of ICE.

Also look out for a national social media action across the states on June 14th. We will post a social media toolkit soon to explain how to participate regardless of where you are.

The abolishment of ICE is not a radical idea. It has only been around for 15 years and it uses $7.9 million tax money to separate families and terrorize immigrants. Enough is enough and it’s time to correct the mistake of establishing this problematic institution by abolishing it.
