Ingleside-Merced Walk + Stonestown Tour
Start: Saturday, September 10, 2022•10:15 AM
End: Saturday, September 10, 2022•12:30 PM
Walk the Ingleside and Park Merced neighborhoods and get a guided tour + Q&A from the developer for the proposed Stonestown Development, followed by optional lunch.
We'll start on Ocean Ave, which you can reach via the K (get off at Jules Ave) or BayWheels (station at Brighton Ave). We will then walk through Ingleside by the historic Sundial in Urbano Circle. Continuing over to Park Merced, we'll explore the beautiful mix of housing types and walk a segment of the Lake Merced path.
We will conclude by walking over to Stonestown for a guided tour beginning at 12pm to learn about the thousands of new homes and neighborhood amenities planned for the current surface parking lots. Stick around for an optional lunch at Marugame Udon, which has outdoor seating. You can return using the Stonestown M stop or BayWheels station.
We will discuss Urban Environmentalist themes of walkability, abundant housing, safe streets, transit access, and diverse communities throughout, highlighting the amenities of the current neighborhoods as well as hopes for future improvements.
The walk will be 3 miles, mostly flat. It should be mostly accessible but we cannot guarantee this and know that sidewalk conditions in this part of the city can be uneven. If you are not feeling up to the walk you can also meet us directly at Stonestown at 12pm, at the front entrance to the mall outside of Peet's coffee.
This event is cohosted with We Are OMI.
