Invercargill ACC Action

Start: Wednesday, July 07, 2021 2:00 PM

End: Wednesday, July 07, 2021 3:00 PM

Come along to our action at the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) Office to join our call for ACC to go fossil free! Our action on the 7th of July will involve us gathering outside of the ACC branch in Invercargill, collectively signing a letter addressed to the Board of ACC that one of us will bring inside the branch to deliver it. We want to show that we will continue to keep on the pressure until there is an announcement that ACC will divest in a transparent, robust, and timely manner. Will you join us?

When: Wednesday, 7th July, 2.00 pm

Where: We will meet outside the ACC office on 120 Spey Street, Invercargill

This action is part of 350 Aotearoa's ACC Go Fossil Free campaign. Last year our 350 Aotearoa community launched a campaign calling for ACC to manage our public funds for public good and divest from the fossil fuel industry that is driving the climate crisis. We’ve played an important role, by organising actions, writing letters, putting up posters, raising awareness and keeping the pressure on ACC online. Thank you for your role in our shared campaign so far!

The government has responded to our campaign! The Minister of Finance Hon Grant Robertson supported our call for ACC to divest in his annual letter of expectation to ACC’s Board members. You can read more about this exciting progress in our press release.

While this is a reason for celebration, we still have an important role to play in ensuring that ACC commits to divest from all coal, oil, and gas companies in a robust, transparent, and timely manner. We still need a commitment from ACC to divest from fossil fuels, so we're building the pressure on ACC and calling or the Board to announce its plans to divest from fossil fuels by 31 July 2021.

We’d love for you to a part of our action! Bring along some signs, with supportive messages, and your friends and family.
