A roadmap to regularisation: How undocumented people in Ireland achieved settled status
*Please note - this is a private event for undocumented people and others campaigning for a regularisation process (settled status) in the UK. The link to this event will not be shared publicly and is by invitation only. You may join on Zoom, don't have to use your real name, keep your camera off, or participate in whichever way makes you feel comfortable.*
Join the Citizens UK Settle Our Status team for an exciting and unique online action! We will hear from key campaigners who won a legal pathway to citizenship for undocumented migrants in Ireland. We will reflect together on applying lessons from this inspiring campaign, to our own Organising for change.
Guest speakers:
- Edel McGinley, Director, Migrant Rights Centre Ireland
- Brian Killoran, Chief Executive, Immigrant Council of Ireland
If it has been done elsewhere - it's possible here, too!
A regularisation scheme for undocumented migrants in Ireland opened on 31 January 2022. The scheme allows undocumented people to obtain Irish residence, as well as creating a legal pathway to citizenship. Undocumented workers celebrated this historic day.
Is it winnable in the UK?
Yes! Thanks to your Organising work momentum is growing with more and more Conservative and Labour MPs supporting the call for a regularisation process. With the next General Election in sight we need to keep energy high and renew our collective commitment to making impact where we can strategically. Join us for this event to gain insight into how that's already been achieved in Ireland, and how we could apply this in a UK context.
