On January 29, 2017, a gunman opened fire on the Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec City. He killed six, and injured 19 others.
Please
join us for this online event to mark the fourth anniversary of the
Quebec mosque shooting – to remember and pray for the victims, and to
reflect on the broader context of Islamophobia that both enabled it to
occur, and has informed the responses to it.
We are honoured to be joined this evening by Br. Aymen Derbali
– present during the shooting, he intervened to protect others from the
bullets and sustained permanent injuries that have left him unable to
walk.
Noor is also excited to be launching the ‘Islamophobia is..‘ project – a series of five animated video shorts, and accompanying resources, educating about the particularities of systemic Islamophobia in Canada.
Program:
–
Prayers for the victims of the Quebec mosque shooting – the deceased,
the injured, and the bereaved families and communities – by Imam Michael Abdur Rashid Taylor
