The Tucson Democratic Socialists of America are meeting at the University of Arizona and/or online to discuss the Afro-futurist and feminist Octavia Butler’s novel Parable of the Sower. Parable of the Sower consists of diary entries from a young black girl named Lauren as the world collapses around her (plague, famine, climate change) and covers her struggle with empathy and community.
