Take an Organizing Deep Dive: Developing Leadership

Saturday, 6/10/2023 from 10am-noon CST

Please join us on zoom, June 10, from 10am-12:00 for our Unlearning Circle

Ron Chisom, founder of the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, says an organizer is anyone who brings people together for a purpose. That purpose could be deep canvassing, a rally, or speaking at city council. It could be planning a party. An outing for your child and their friends. Mom’s sixtieth birthday party. We are all organizers.

Our next three ULCs (we will be taking July off!) will explore how we become anti-racist organizers by developing leadership, deepening our accountability, and analyzing power.

June’s Unlearning Circle will focus on developing leadership. What is your superpower? Are you the extrovert who easily picks up the phone to make a call? The quiet one who opens space for other voices? Do you love spreadsheets? Social media? Designing and painting banners? Belting out a song?

Our superpowers are also a slippery slope to role lock. It feels so good to be seen as capable. It feels so good to be needed. But being locked into a role keeps us trapped in transactional belonging and inhibits the rest of us from meeting our growing edge.

This Unlearning Circle will invite you to identify your strengths and deepen your capacity to mentor those strengths in others. We will work together to nurture flexible, loving, strategic and powerful communities by developing leadership.

Although this is a series, the sessions are not mutually exclusive so please join us as you are able.
