Kirkland Youth Climate Strike
Start: Friday, December 06, 2019• 1:30 PM
End: Friday, December 06, 2019• 3:30 PM
With the consequences of climate change becoming ever more clear and dire with each passing day, a new powerful wave of the climate movement has been swelling up over the last couple of years. Young people around the world have been rising up to defend our future, and have been going on strike – every week, all over the planet – for months. In the September Climate Strikes alone, 7.6 million people took to the streets with us.
But our movement isn't going anywhere. Now, we are preparing for the next wave of Climate Strikes.
Join Washington Youth Climate Strike at Marina Beach Park for the second Kirkland Youth Climate Strike. We are striking to demand an end to the use of fossil fuels, to support a Green New Deal, and to bring attention to the 11 years we have left to stop climate change from permanently transforming our world.
As youth, we will be the most affected by the climate crisis, and with politicians doing little to bring attention to climate change, youth and adults around the globe are going on strike on December 6th.
At the event, there will be speeches from youth and adult activists, a peaceful march to the Kirkland City Hall where we hope to meet with Council members, a time for art, and letter writing to our elected officials. Bring your friends and family -- all ages are welcome!
Signs are encouraged but not necessary.
We hope to see you there!
