Lantern Floating Ceremony in Arcata CA, August 11, to remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Start: Saturday, August 11, 2018 9:00 AM

End: Saturday, August 11, 2018 9:30 PM

Every year Arcata holds a lantern floating ceremony in memory of those who died at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and honoring the Hibakusha. WILPF Humboldt Branch is one of the sponsors. Our ceremony will be held the evening of August 11, 7-9:30 pm, at Klopp Lake, Arcata Marsh, entrance at I Street and Samoa Blvd.   On the morning of that Saturday people gather on the Arcata town plaza during Farmers Market, 9:00 am-2:00 pm, to decorate and write messages on their paper lanterns. The event has grown to include hundreds of participants.
