Let's change the messaging.

Join us for a special online discussion on the cost of gun violence on the American health care system. We will be joined by special guests:

Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-2):  Vice-Chair Gun Violence Prevention Task Force

Sara Knizhnik: Lake County Board Member, Chair of the Lake County IL Gun Violence Prevention Initiative. CEO & Co-Founder of SAFE Illinois

Jonathan Gold: Engagement Advisor, Giffords

Join us as we look at a way to change the discussion on gun violence. We talk about those killed, but rarely discuss those who survive gun violence, and the often ongoing medical costs of their injuries. As the use of assault-type weapons in shootings increase, so does the catastrophic and often long-term physical injuries incurred, as well as mental health needs of survivors. We continue the same discussions and use the same talking points about the need to reduce gun violence, so let's change the messaging to include the increasing costs to our country, and discuss different ways to get involved to end the plague of gun violence.

Please watch your inbox for the link for the discussion closer to the event.

*Please do not share this event publicly on social media. It may be shared in closed groups or in emails to fellow gvp activists or those interested in gun violence prevention.
