Lights for Liberty Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Start: Friday, July 12, 2019 7:00 PM

Along with many groups nationwide, the Center for Worker Justice and Freedom for Immigrants Eastern Iowa are organizing "Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Detention Camps" to take place Friday July 12th from 7 - 9 p.m., at the Federal Courthouse in Cedar Rapids. On this day there will be a massive turnout in cities across the country, to express our concern for children and families and to register our outrage about our government's activities on our southern border.

You will see from the links below first, information at the FB link for the local event to take place in Cedar Rapids this coming Friday July 12th. Next, you will find the link to the national "Lights for Liberty" web site. We believe now is the time for a national mobilization on this issue.

At the link below for the national group, you will see there are many excellent hosts and sponsors including the the American Friends Service Committee, SEIU National, the United Farm Workers, the ACLU, Women's March, Unitarian Universalist Justice Arizona, United Church of Christ, and many more.

Other local sponsors include IC Compassion, LULAC 308, Teamster's Local 238, and PFLAG CR. We welcome local organizations and faith groups to join us as a co-sponsors, supporters or participants. Please help us get the word out - share this event with your friends and neighbors. We hope you will join us! And please feel free to contact me with questions or suggestions!

Thank you for all you do! Aaron Silander
