LYG Reading Group: Racism and Climate Change in the Oil and Tech Industries - with Tyrone Scott

Start: 2020-08-19 19:30:00 UTC Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna (GMT+01:00)

This is a virtual event

Join the London Young Greens for the inaugural meeting of our reading group! We'll be looking at racism, climate change and big business - exploring how oil and tech companies exploit communities in the global south and work with state power to crack down on environmental defenders.

We'll be joined by Tyrone Scott, a campaigner and former Young Green parliamentary candidate in Hackney South and Shoreditch, who will add his own insight to our discussion.

We've suggested a list of articles around the topic, but there's no pressure to read them all - join us whether you've had many thoughts or none, whether you've read done extra reading or nothing at all. The reading list can be found below the event description.

This event is open to all Young Greens

We want to make our events as accessible as possible, so please let us know if there's anything we can do to make attending easier for you. If you're new to London Young Greens and want to have a chat with a friendly face before joining the Zoom let us know. For any welfare or accessibility issues, please contact our Welfare Officer, Elysia, at elysiabg1@icloud.com
