Do you believe the opinions of 16 and 17-year-olds from South Australia matter? Are you a young person in Adelaide passionate about having more young voices heard by our Federal representatives? Come and help us celebrate the local South Australian launch of the country’s first youth-led campaign to lower the voting age!
We are currently at a crossroads in society. We must make big decisions on our future - from the climate crisis to the economy and the upcoming Voice referendum. We deserve a say just like everyone else.
To get the Australian Parliament to lower the voting age, we need to show politicians in Canberra that thousands of people back 16 and 17-year-olds getting the right to vote. This exciting event at the Joinery will bring together young people, youth advocates and supporters across Adelaide to kick off the Make It 16 campaign in South Australia.
The event will feature:
- A panel of young organisers and local supporters will discuss the importance of young people engaging with politics and lowering the voting age.
- An opportunity to ask questions of young leaders from South Australia involved in Make It 16, and to learn more about what the campaign is calling for and how lowering the voting age can strengthen our democracy
- Plenty of time for drinks, snacks, and more fun conversations at the end!
