Manhattan Community Meeting on Con Ed's proposed rate hike
Start: Tuesday, August 30, 2022• 6:00 PM
End: Tuesday, August 30, 2022• 7:30 PM

Have you had high Con Ed gas and electric bills lately?
Con Ed wants to raise rates, even more, to pay for fracked gas infrastructure across NYC and Westchester. In Manhattan, Con Ed wants to charge us $67 million to extend the life of its fracked gas power plant on the Lower East Side. The community already suffers from high asthma rates. Why should they be allowed to invest our money into infrastructure that will continue to harm us?
Extending the life of the East River plant violates New York's Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), our state's groundbreaking climate law written to protect communities like the Lower East Side.
Additionally, Manhattan is incredibly vulnerable to climate change. It's criminal that Con Ed is trying to raise our bills to pay for fossil fuel infrastructure that is accelerating this climate chaos.
Join Assembly Member Harvey Epstein and Sane Energy Project for a Community Meeting and Teach-in to learn more about Con Ed's proposal and how the people are fighting back against this unjust rate hike!
