In past decades, maps drawn to protect incumbents have sometimes made it more difficult for minority communities to gain representation. Racial equity in redistricting is a complex subject, but one it’s important we all understand.

Join us on Zoom to hear from voting rights experts, leaders of some PA minority organizations and mappers with experience in creating districts that ensure minority communities are heard.

Agenda:
Ben Geffen, Public Interest Law Center: legal frameworks for minority representation
Chris Fowler, PhD, Penn State University: geographic and statistical contexts in mapping for equity
Evans Moore and Tonya Chestnut-Farrow, NAACP-LDF: Pittsburgh case study
Will Gonzalez and Marcos Lomeli, CEIBA: communities of interest in mapping Philadelphia
Anthony Solis Cruz, MALDEF: mapping to meet legally-required opportunities
