Thanks to the dedication of our new U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the American Rescue Plan has passed and will provide direct financial relief to millions. This plan also includes $23.8 billion in desperately needed aid for New York State, an investment in our communities and in our future. This money will be used for direct payments to millions of New Yorkers, to pay for essential services and frontline workers, and to provide relief for small businesses and local economies.

By ensuring the American Rescue Plan addresses the economic needs of average people, Democrats in Congress have shown their commitment to a government that works for everyone. Now we need them to uphold that commitment by repairing our broken political system so it works for average people too. We need them to pass S1, the For the People Act, and return political power to the hands of the people - where it belongs.
