Come join our virtual internship information session! Learn more about what interning for MarchOnHarrisburg means! RSVP for zoom access.

In our internship program you can specialize in:

  • LOBBYING: Learn from our experienced community-powered lobbyists about how Harrisburg really works and how to make it work for us. Interns will join meetings with legislators and staff, learn how to prepare for and conduct productive lobbying meetings, and develop an understanding about how our state legislature works (or doesn’t work). Interns will further build knowledge surrounding how the Pennsylvania legislature currently operates — specifically how leadership monopolizes bills and, more broadly, the political culture of Harrisburg.
  • POLICY RESEARCH: As Rev. Dr. William Barber says, “There is nothing worse than being loud and wrong.” We depend on our researchers to make sure we know what we are talking about. Research interns will work on developing and writing bills, answering policy questions, aiding our policy working groups, and generating information for public education. Research interns will regularly attend the political education and legislative team meetings, where they will work on everything from lobbying campaigns to political research such as campaign contributions.
  • SOCIAL MEDIA: Learn how social media can be used to organize. Interns will help create social media content, including creating TikTok videos and Instagram Reels, designing memes, creating educational graphics, writing Twitter threads, and more. Additionally, interns will learn about what kind of content does best on each platform and how to schedule content.
  • MEDIA & COMMUNICATIONS: Learn firsthand how to work closely with local, statewide, and national media outlets. Interns who specialize in Media, Press, and Communications will work closely with the Communications Director, helping to write press releases, press advisories, letters to the editor, and op-eds. Additionally, interns will learn the process of cultivating effective media messaging campaigns, and regularly attend narrative planning meetings with MarchOnHarrisburg’s staff and working groups.
