Bill McKibben: author, educator, environmentalist

SPECIAL EVENT — OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Climate Action Rhode Island is proud to welcome one of the world's foremost climate organizers, Bill McKibben, to our June 1, 2022 Community Meeting.

Very few people on Earth have Bill's ability to communicate the critical urgency of climate action, the despair we all feel at the slow progress toward sustainability and justice, and yet the hope for a livable future. Don't miss this event!

Bill will join us remotely via Zoom. You have two choices for how to attend:
1) Log in from home via Zoom. Register at this Zoom page.
or
2) Join us in person for a watch party with a large-screen TV, snacks, and discussion. Register on this page.

Bill McKibben is a contributing writer to The New Yorker, and a founder of Third Act, which organizes people over the age of 60 to work on climate and racial justice. He founded the first global grassroots climate campaign, 350.org, and serves as the Schumann Distinguished Professor in Residence at Middlebury College in Vermont. In 2014 he was awarded the Right Livelihood Prize, sometimes called the ‘alternative Nobel,’ in the Swedish Parliament. He's also won the Gandhi Peace Award, and honorary degrees from 19 colleges and universities. He has written over a dozen books about the environment.

About Climate Action RI:

Science tells us that to keep Earth livable, we need urgent political action to bring an end to the fossil fuel era. History tells us that such political action happens only when a mass movement of citizens arises to demand it. 350.org is building that movement internationally, and we at CARI are 350.org's Rhode Island affiliate. Join the movement and make a difference.
