    The public is invited to attend three March 2025 public showings in Tucker County, West Virginia of "Moonshine Memories," an entertaining community history film, with a great local cast!

The showings are on Saturday, March 15, at 6:00-7:00 PM, at the Canaan Valley Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center; on Sunday, March 16, at 2:00-3:00 PM, at the Historic Railroad Depot in Parsons, WV; and on Saturday, March 22, at 2:00-3:00 PM, at the Buxton and Landstreet Building in Coketon, WV (near Thomas).

Admission is free and tickets are not necessary. To help the organizers plan, please RSVP and indicate which showing you plan to attend (you can change that plan and attend any or all!)

"Moonshine Memories" tells the story of a legendary 1970 courtroom battle that was won by Albert “Ab” Crossland (1884-1973). a colorful Canaan Valley “moonshiner.” This film contains the complete dramatic program performed in 2024 by a community cast in Canaan Valley and in Parsons.

The film's cast includes Barbara Alford, Mitchell Beall, Susan Callahan, Phyllis Garcia, Jake Kopec, Mike Miller, Gerry Milnes, Susan Moore, Pat A. Nichols, Rafe Pomerance, Tom Rodd, Mike Rosenau, Casey Rucker, Diana Vera -- and features Tom Yocum as Ab Crossland.

This program is organized by the nonprofit group Friends of Blackwater, with partners ArtSpring; the Tucker County Historical Society; the Tucker County Highlands History and Education Project; Cottrill’s Opera House; and with financial support from the Tucker Community Foundation, the West Virginia Humanities Council, the Benedum Foundation, and the supporters of Friends of Blackwater.
