Moran Town Hall
Start: Saturday, November 25, 2017• 9:00 AM
Now that the Senate version of the Tax Bill has passed through the Finance Committee, the bill is scheduled to go to the Senate Floor for a vote the week after Thanksgiving.
This puts a whole new importance on this town hall. We have a chance to let him know that the Senate Tax Bill will severely affect Kansans since it will:
- permanently cut corporate taxes but only temporarily cuts individual taxes on Kansans
- increase taxes on middle class Kansas families, even on incomes less than $10,000 per year.
- increase the deficit. Remember, Moran came into office in the Tea Party Movement which was all about keeping the deficit small.
- cut Medicare starting in 2018
- cut agriculture subsidies to Kansas farmers
- Include a tax break for private jet owners. Why?
Senator Moran indicated he's unhappy the Individual Mandate Repeal was added. He wished for a clean Tax Bill.
Extra Information: Tasty Pastry, the event venue, is a tiny coffee shop that can hold at most 30 people in its front room. We don't want to overwhelm the business. However, right across the street is the Clay Center Court House. People can gather along the public sidewalks there with signs. If folks arrive early, feel free to go inside and have a pastry but make sure everyone knows there's space for a rally outside.
