This is a family friendly, peaceful and healing action open to mothers, grandmothers, carers who come in good will. Children and grandchildren are most welcome to attend. Mothers* Rebellion is a peaceful gathering of concerned mothers and carers of the future. This year we meet on the first Saturday of the month.
On Saturday 1 February, the first M*R of 2025, we will be meeting at 10:30am outside the National Gallery of Victoria on St Kilda Road. We will then walk in procession on the footpath along Swanston Street, to hold our circle 11am to 12pm outside St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral at the corner of Flinders Street. You are welcome to join us there or hop on a tram.
Look for our pink flags and the giant sandwich boards: ‘Mothers for climate action’ and ‘Think of all children, vote for nature’. Wear a white or pink top so our ‘Mothers for peace and climate bibs’ stand out clearly.
Bring your own sign with your personal message or come a bit early and make one there, cardboard and text as supplied. We include signs with the names of our children or other messages.
We are mothers, grandmothers, aunties, sisters, daughters and allies around the world. We know that those least responsible for the climate crises are also the most impacted.
We believe in the power of mothers and caregivers to demand climate justice. We ask politicians and policy makers to recognise a duty of care towards young people and future generations.
We will not look away.
We refuse to give up.
We will do everything we can.
We believe in the power of mothers and caregivers to demand climate justice.
Extinction Rebellion Victoria acknowledges that we rebel on First Nations lands. Country has never been ceded. We offer our respect to Elders, past and present. As we face the climate crisis, we honour the first custodians: activists for land, water, culture and life.
