Join us on Monday, January 20, from 7:30-9:30pm at the Nahant Town Hall, 334 Nahant Street, for the next frontier in our efforts to boost voter participation – with postcards asking registered Democrats in the key swing area of Sarasota County, FL, to sign up to vote by mail.

In a controlled trial of about 1,250 postcards, the Sarasota County Democrats found that ten times more people requested vote by mail than before or after the postcard effort. This raised their response rate to 3 in 100 – and as we’ve seen, 3% is enough to swing today’s close races. Another big bonus: Research shows that voters who receive their ballots by mail vote are much more likely to actually vote.

The postcards will include a tear-off, addressed form the recipient can send in to request Vote by Mail. As with our other efforts, we will be addressing the postcards and writing a short note urging them to request the Vote by Mail option.

Complete with a stamp for the postcard we are sending, each postcard we send costs 50 cents, so if you can pitch in $10 for the 20 or so postcards you’ll likely write that would be wonderful.
