The government has just announced the federal election will be held on May 3 —only a few weeks away. Now is the time to make climate a top issue before voters head to the polls.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. If the next parliament doesn’t act on climate, we’ll be locking in worsening climate disasters—more cyclones, floods, and bushfires. Emissions from Australian coal and gas exported and used overseas are three times larger than emissions from the coal and gas we use in Australia.
The science is clear: fossil fuels drive the climate crisis, and we need a government that will phase out coal and gas in favor of clean energy.
