October 17-23 is National School Safety Week. This week is dedicated to raising awareness of school safety programs, but we can all agree that the most serious safety concern right now is COVID-19.

On October 17th, Aldine AFT will be joining our brothers and sisters of HFT/HESP for a car caravan protest to demand that Gov. Abbott and TEA stop putting or communities at risk by rushing to reopen schools without a real safety plan.

We need to publicly stand together—teachers, support personnel, parents, students and community— to demand that Gov. Abbott and TEA ensure a safer reopening. We must not put the lives of students, teachers, other staff and their families at risk.

Join us at 10am on Saturday, October 17th for our safety caravan! Be sure to make signs and decorate your car to get the message out!

We will meet near Hattie Mae White HISD (4400 W 18th St, Houston, TX 77092), at Northwest Mall. Look for the Aldine AFT tent and t-shirts.
