NEU Councillors Network is proud to be hosting its first local government conference.

This conference is for elected local councillors or selected candidates and will focus on workshops and plenaries from educational experts and practitioners on a wide-range of education issues.

Workshops will include:

• How does education funding work, and what can we do about it?
• Understanding academisation and the role of local authorities.
• What does an alternative assessment system look like in primary schools?
• RSE and LGBT+ Inclusion: What is it, why is it important and what can you do about it?
• Combating racism through education- NEU's anti-racist charter for schools.
• What is happening to children with SEND? Off-rolling and exclusions.
• How to retain and recruit education staff in your local authority area.
