Host Guidelines - AYUDAMOS

Thank you for your interest in taking action to support ICE Detainees and their families here in Georgia. Hosting a drive will allow even more individuals throughout the state to take concrete action to help.

So what does hosting entail?
* Having a drop-off location where specific clothing items and/or toiletry items can be stored for the duration of the collection.
* Having a space to sort clothing and/or assemble hygiene kits.
* Ensuring that all items are delivered to the drop-off location in Avondale Estates, Georgia on July 27th. NOTE: We may be able to add donation drop off sites throughout the state. If you CANNOT come to metro Atlanta, please email us to suggest/request additional drop off sites at info@gafsj.org

You may choose to be a clothing collection site, host a hygiene kit making event, or do both!
You may host your event on any day/s you choose between now and July 27th; keeping in mind all donations must be taken to the drop off location on July 27th. This is the only day we will be coordinating donation drop off.

Other interested volunteers will be looking for events in their area where they can donate items or pitch in with sorting and assembling. You may choose to make your event public or private and only invite your network.

Host an Ayudamos collection drive for clothing and/or toiletry items at your home, office, place of worship, or anywhere else that works for you!

1. Decide if you’d like to collect clothing, toiletry items, or both.

Clothing will require some hands-on sorting and screening. Here are the very specific needs for the drive. Please adhere to this list closely. Items not on the list will not be accepted and/or given to Goodwill. https://tinyurl.com/y42omeup

Toiletries will need to be assembled into hygiene kits. Here is where you can have some fun and creativity. All kits must contain the essential items on the list, but you can add personal notes of encouragement, treats, etc. https://tinyurl.com/y5yxkch2

El Refugio has provided us with a list of specific needs. It’s important that we don’t deviate from that list so that they aren’t overwhelmed with items they cannot use. GAFSJ will provide quick and easy training on sorting/screening clothing items and assembling hygiene kits.

2. Determine the dates, times, and locations for

Collection of clothing and/or toiletry items (you decide if you’d like to focus on one or both)

Sorting/screening clothing, and/or

Assembling hygiene kits.

Be sure the details you post about your event are clear and accurate! Other interested volunteers will be looking for events in their area where they can donate items or pitch in with sorting and assembling.

3. Drop off all collected items at a location in Avondale Estates (DeKalb County, GA) on July 27th.

We will be available to answer your questions, or potentially provide additional resources you may need.
