NJ Transit has proposed a new fracked-gas power plant in the Kearny Meadowlands. If approved, this power plant will become yet another major source of climate destroying greenhouse gases in our state, and will directly increase the pollution burden in environmental justice communities in Kearny, Newark, and Jersey City Heights. Deadlier rates of COVID-19 are directly tied to air pollution caused by underlying lung disease, so now more than ever we need to keep polluters out of our communities. Come learn from leaders of the Don’t Gas the Meadow Coalition about NJ Transit’s proposal, and their alternative plan for a renewable power and battery storage alternative.
