Some background:
10% of the workforce is now working at nonprofits, the same percentage of manufacturing, and the workforce share continues to grow. Nonprofits are some of the most prominent and important actors pushing campaigns for social change and climate justice. NGOs and nonprofits often position themselves as ethical employment alternatives in a capitalist system. And yet, we know our employers often fall short as workers endure harassment, loose labor protections, and attacks on their collective bargaining rights.

How do we protect and empower these workers in a culture of "passion-work?" How are unions vital to protecting workers rights, and what do we do when they fall short? How is the fight for climate justice and wholesale social change intrinsically linked with the power of a militant labor movement? These are some of the questions we hope to ask and begin to answer. Join us, ask questions, and brainstorm next steps for your own workplace and in our fight for a just world.
