Prepare for upcoming actions or just learn more about the whys and hows of using Nonviolent Direct Action to sound the alarm, galvanise people and increase pressure on Governments and Corporations to change tack and lessen the effects of the climate crisis before it's too late.

Think the Filipino People Power Movement (toppled Dictator Marcos in 1986). Think Ghandi (Indian independence movement). Think Martin Luther King (US Civil Rights Movement). Think Suffragettes (votes for women movement). Research shows that nonviolent movements are more likely to achieve system change than violent ones: [Erica Chenoweth and Maria J. Stephan. Why Civil Resistance Works: The Strategic Logic of Nonviolent Conflict (New York, NY: Columbia University Press, August 2011].

Learn about XR Vic's organisational tactics, the legal implications of arrest, the nuts and bolts of locking-on and our fundamental guiding principles. Prepare yourself to work in a trusted pair or group to safely begin to take the first steps with support from experienced Rebels. Consider how to take care of yourself and others to remain safe and energised during and after actions. Think about where your skills can be best used - There are plenty of essential non-arrestable support roles as well as front-line roles where arrest is more likely.

This 2-part, highly interactive online workshop, presented by experienced rebels from XR Vic's NVDA training team, will cover all the basics. You will hear about future workshops where you can train in action skills such as marshaling, police liaison or de-escalation. You will also hear about how to get involved behind the scenes in XR Vic's organisational infrastructure.

If you want more information, check out our website or attend one of our online Q&A sessions (fortnightly on Wednesday evenings. Details on our events page ), or you can email us at xrtrainingvic@protonmail.com
