Nottingham Citizens: Migration Justice

Start: Thursday, July 06, 2023 6:00 PM

End: Thursday, July 06, 2023 7:30 PM

The challenges faced by people seeking to make Nottingham and the UK their home are many.

We're building a team of local people to take action against these injustices.

We want to;

  • hear the experiences of people in Nottingham affected by migration injustices
  • spot opportunities for local action based on what matters to you
  • learn about the Citizens UK campaigns around child detention, insecure immigration status (‘Settle Our Status’), No Recourse to Public Funds...
  • invest in the participation and leadership development of migrant leaders through campaigning, alongside some additional organiser support

Please join us on Thursday 6th July (please note the change of date, previously Tuesday 27th June) for an exploratory meeting at which we'll;

  • hear from Zain Hafeez, one of Citizens UK's migration organisers who has lived experience of the immigration system
  • share stories together of how this is impacting us, or people in our communities
  • learn the opportunities for action both locally and at a UK level as we prepare for a General Election in 2024

The meeting will be in-person at the Karimia Institute and is open to representatives from member institutions, or organisations exploring joining our alliance.
