November 25 - Picketing Dallas Black Dance Theatre's Behind the Scenes
Start: Monday, November 25, 2024•11:00 AM
On Friday, August 9, the leadership of Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) fired their entire company of dancers, just weeks after they unanimously voted to unionize. On August 17, hundreds of people from the labor, arts, and Black communities in Dallas marched outside the DBDT studios to let them know what they did was wrong.
Now, as DBDT embarks on their 2024-2025 season with replacements, we again need to make sure the public is aware of the injustice that has been done to the dancers of DBDT, call for their immediate reinstatement, and demand real change in the leadership of the company. Bring your energy and your commitment to justice to Dallas. Together, we’ll make sure that as the dancing rhythms echo inside, so too will the call for change and equity for every fired dancer of DBDT.
WHEN: Monday November 25, 11am CT
MEETING LOCATION: Meet on public sidewalk across from DBDT studios (2700 Ann Williams Way • Dallas, TX 75201). This meeting location will be used to organize and prepare for the picket line.
