In a world racked by war and conflict, prospects for peace seem far away. We’ve witnessed, repeatedly, nuclear armed states acting as bullies and aggressors, emboldened by their nuclear arsenals and their perceived power.

The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons is helping to turn the tide, strengthening the global consensus that these bombs are inhumane, unacceptable in all circumstances, and now illegal.

The Second Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons will take place the week of 27 November - 1 December 2023 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Australia has again committed to observing this biennial gathering, and representatives from ICAN Australia will be on the ground to make sure they are listening and learning from States working on the treaty's implementation.

Tune in for this special live cross to the United Nations to hear updates from the meeting and the civil society actions surrounding it. Joining us will be:

Karina Lester (NYC)
ICAN Ambassador, second-generation nuclear test survivor and Yankunytjatjara-Anangu woman.

Dimity Hawkins AM (NYC)
ICAN Co-Founder, ICAN Australia board member and co-coordinator at the Nuclear Truth Project

Gem Romuld (NYC)
