NWSOFA Fiscal and Economic Issues Meeting in Arlington Heights

Start: Wednesday, January 16, 2019 7:00 PM

The NWSOFA Fiscal and Economic Issues Group will be back in Arlington Heights at 7 pm on January 16th. Our meetings typically last until about 9:30. Then many of us head out to Eddie's for a drink and a bite to eat.   Note that the Village Hall is a new location for our Fiscal meeting. I will try to post detailed directions, like where to park, when I get them.  I'm looking forward to trying out a new space.

We will update for the budget situation. The US is currently operating on continuing resolutions for about 7 of the appropriations bills. As of this morning (12/18), it looked like we would have a partial government shutdown this week over Trump's border wall. As of this afternoon it looks like Trump has backed down. But we will update in January whether we are shut down, on a continuing resolution, or on full year appropriations bills.

Governor-elect Pritzker is working on his budget proposal for the Illinois fiscal year that begins July 1, 2019. It probably won't be available to discuss until February.

We will update for December jobs data and other economic information, e.g. the 3rd estimate of 3rd quarter GDP growth.

David Doney will also discuss economic forecasts for 2019, both US and international.

The final version of our December presentation can be found at https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QSwN1Du7zhcJE3hZdKjdScddd6wy7oaV This includes the quiz on the world, including the answers. We will send out the January presentation when it is available.

I always enjoy our discussions and hope you can join us next month/year. In the meantime have a good holiday and a happy new year!
