INFO: Voter turnout in last year's General Election was just 34% (not so bad for NY - but not good enough to flip the seat).

THE IDEA
In a joint effort from the New York State Democratic Party, we'll be asking for volunteers for this weekend with Voter Pledge Canvassing and Voter Registration. We'll be provided lists of Democratic households in targeted areas within the district. The state party has also been able to supply us with pre-paid Pledge Cards. While the Federal Primary is coming up this month, these specific cards are designed for an advance 'Pledge to Vote' for whomever the Democratic challenger will be in the General Election in November. The number one reason we hear about why people don't vote in Primaries (or at all) is that they don't know who is running. To that, we'll also be providing half page leaflets for volunteers to distribute with all candidates who, in terms of the congressional race, will be on the ballot or, in terms of the state races, have filed to be on the ballot. With that, these outings are targeted to be multi-purpose.purpose.

A little bit of a backstory, for these areas in Brooklyn, there is an overlap between NY CD11 (Dan Donovan) and NYS SD22 (Marty Golden).

THE GOALS are to talk to registered Democrats in the area to:
•  verbally remind them there are three elections this year where their vote will be very meaningful; Federal Primary 6/26, State Primary 9/13 and General 11/6.
(because the Democratic side of the Federal Primary is loaded (6 candidates), voters will be able to see the effect of their vote - in other words, it may get really close and every vote counts!)
• providing voters with 'Who's on the Ballot/Running" leaflets
• reminding them where their polling location is
• register anyone in the house that is not yet registered.
