NYC Climate, Jobs, & Justice Campaign Launch: Team Climate Justice vs. Team Fossil Fuels

Start: Wednesday, November 15, 2023 4:00 PM

We’re in the fourth quarter – the climate clock is ticking and the relentless onslaught of climate crises our communities have been facing are getting worse, from suffocating smoke to flooded subway stations and buses.

That’s why we’re launching our People’s Climate Justice Budget campaign, with events across the state November 15th. The NYS climate movement–Team Climate Justice–has a winning vision: green union jobs, clean air, lower utility costs, and real community-led climate and justice solutions.

Join NY Renews and our coalition members for the NYC Climate, Jobs, and Justice campaign launch at the BQE Trench Area in Williamsburg, to call for passage of the People's Climate Justice Budget this legislative "season." Passing this critical budget proposal would fund community-led environmental justice projects across New York State, including transforming the South Williamsburg BQE trench into a vital public space and park. The Williamsburg BQE proposal would reconnect neighborhoods divided by the construction of the BQE and reduces many of the negative environmental, economic and social impacts of the highway artery in an area of New York where asthma rates are double the citywide average.
