NYC DSA in Conversation with Prof. Rashid Khalidi
Start: Sunday, September 22, 2024•05:00 PM
End: Sunday, September 22, 2024•06:30 PM

NYC DSA Citywide Political Education is proud to present A Conversation with Dr. Rashid Khalidi on his book The Hundred Years War on Palestine. The book is both a scholarly and personal history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since the Balfour Declaration in 1917, many key moments of which Khalidi or his family witnessed firsthand from the Palestinian side.
We hope this discussion will be an opportunity to learn more about the often overlooked or silenced Palestinian perspective on the past and present of the region from one of its preeminent scholars.
Rashid Khalidi received his BA from Yale in 1970, and his D.Phil. from Oxford in 1974. He is editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies, and was president of the Middle East Studies Association, and an adviser to the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid and Washington Arab-Israeli peace negotiations from October 1991 until June 1993. Along with The Hundred Years War on Palestine, Dr. Khalidi is the author of Palestinian Identity and numerous other works on Palestinian history and politics, and currently holds the Edward Said professorship of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University.
The NYC location will be announced prior to the event. Space is limited so please RSVP if you plan to attend. Attendees will be expected to adhere to DSA's code of conduct for respectful discussion.
