OBX People's Climate Rally at the Ridge
Start: Saturday, April 29, 2017• 9:00 AM
The Outer Banks is known for its miles of beautiful beaches and scenic byways that run along the ocean waters and the marshes of the sounds. Our beloved environment is threatened now in new ways which we will not accept. The people of the Outer Banks will stand together to protect our planet, our communities, and the health of our families against the many threats that we face now and in the future.
Join us on April 29th at 9:00 a.m. at Jockey's Ridge. Let's march together to the top of the ridge to proclaim our devotion to the preservation of our community and our planet.
Parking is in the main Jockey's Ridge State Park parking lot off Route 158 in Nags Head.
We will begin the march at 9:15 from the end of the boardwalk that runs behind the Visitor's Center. Please note that this is a large sand dune so you will be walking on sand for the march. You can walk barefoot if the sand is not too hot or wear shoes but be prepared for your shoes to be filled with sand! Flip flops may be a good choice.
The colors for our event are blue and green. Wear sunscreen! There is no shade on the ridge.
Dog policy at all NC State Parks - Pets are permitted in parks so long as they are on an attended leash no longer than 6 feet and under the constant control of the owner, and on all pedestrian trails.
