Let's win a superior permanent paid sick days program!

Organizing has led to action on paid sick days in BC and across the country. Many workers and community allies have been meeting monthly to achieve a permanent, accessible, ample, and universal paid sick leave program. Join us on Wednesday, July 28, at 6pm, where YOU can help build the momentum towards achieving better protections for all workers.

To begin, we know that there is a permanent paid sick day program on the horizon however the details of that program have yet to be decided. The number of entitlement days is going to be decided through consultations over the next few months. “We will consult widely and base long-term entitlement on what we hear, so it meets the needs of workers and supports healthy businesses” said Harry Bains, Minister of Labour.

In addition, we know that the powerful business lobby did a lot of push back leading up to the temporary covid related sick leave. There are only 5 months leading up to the permanent program and we need to raise our voices, louder than big bad corporations, to ensure our government doesn’t implement another lousy program that leaves workers worse off than the failed CRSB.
