Pack City Council! Fund Philly Schools - Tax Big Business

Start: Tuesday, May 08, 2018 5:00 PM

On Tuesday May 8th at 5PM, City Council will host a public hearing on raising money for our city and our schools. Right now, City Council is debating increasing property taxes on Philadelphians -- without discussing the millions of dollars that corporations, developers and universities refuse to pay.

Join Our City Our Schools to pack city council and demand that our elected officials force the 1% of our city -- the big developers, universities and corporations who are raking in profit -- to pay their fair share to the Philadelphia schools.

We will pack City Council and also sign people up to testify. If you are interested in testifying, you can email info@215pa.com.

We expect that the Chamber of Commerce and other big business interests will be testifying as well -- so it's important we show up in force!

Our City Our Schools recently released our fair funding proposal, including: ending the 10-year tax abatement, collecting taxes from mega-nonprofits like Drexel, Temple and UPenn, increasing the corporate landlord tax and making sure the city doesn't roll back the Big Business tax.
