Palestine Strategy 101: BDS

Start: 2024-02-25 16:00:00 UTC Eastern Standard Time (US & Canada) (GMT-05:00)

This is a virtual event

As more and more socialists heed the urgent call to push for a long-term ceasefire in Gaza and an end to Israeli apartheid, it is crucial to translate our support for Palestinian liberation into specific, effective action. On Sunday, February 25, from 1-2:30pm PT/4-5:30pm ET, join the National Political Education Committee and Olivia Katbi, North America BDS Policy Coordinator and co-chair of the DSA International Committee's Palestine Subcommittee, on Zoom for a training on strategy toward a free Palestine, with a focus on the BDS movement (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions).

We will discuss both big-picture strategy issues (What strategies work well in which contexts? Where does BDS fit into the broader movement for Palestinian liberation? What should DSA members and chapters think about in determining their own approaches?) and nitty-gritty best practices (How can DSA members most effectively work with other organizations? What should we keep in mind in terms of language, communications, and emphasis?). There will also be time for Q&A with Olivia, so come with questions!

The training (apart from the Q&A portion) will be recorded, and we are planning future Palestine Strategy 101 sessions focused on legal advocacy and media strategy--stay tuned for more information on both.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to politicaleducation@dsacommittees.org with any questions. We look forward to seeing you soon!
