Standing In Solidarity and Dismantling Hate: The work of Peacekeepers and Granite State Progress/ No Hate New Hampshire
Over the past several years political violence has been on the rise as the far right carried out its “culture war” against immigrants, LGBTQ people and others. For several years the New Hampshire Peacekeeper Project has been invited to provide peacekeeping for rallies, marches, Drag Queen Story and other community gatherings events. As a project of New Hampshire Peace Action, trained peacekeepers have used the philosophy and practice of non violence to de-escalate and maintain civility across the Granite State. For the past five years the Granite State Progress/No Hate New Hampshire team has worked to monitor and expose white supremacist, anti-democracy, anti-Trans/LGBTQ, and other bad actors and groups who pose a threat to healthy, thriving communities, peace, and civic engagement.
We welcome Zandra Rice Hawkins of Granite State Progress and Bill Maddocks of GSP/NHNH and the NH Peacekeeper Project to talk about these important mutual support efforts, the principles of nonviolent action and how we can all work to detect and dismantle political violence especially during the few weeks before, during and after the election on November 5t.
