Peacebuilding in Uganda, a talk with David O'Brien

Start: Thursday, June 21, 2018 3:00 PM

End: Thursday, June 21, 2018 4:30 PM

You're invited to join World BEYOND War Central Florida for a talk about peacebuilding with David O'Brien, on June 21 at 3:00pm in The Villages.

David O’Brien will be speaking about his work with the Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative in Northern Uganda, which was focused on rebuilding communities and reintegrating children who had been abducted during a 30-year war. Dave and his family lived in Gulu, the epicenter of the conflict zone where Joseph Kony led a rebel group infamous for abducting children and forcing them to work as soldiers and sex slaves. Dave’s talk will address the complexities of international conflicts and the delicate balancing act that is required to promote peace around the world. Dave has a master’s degree in Divinity and Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame, and is the author of There’s a Beer in My Handbag: Unusual Thoughts about Everyday Faith.
