Clare City Park - Clare, MI
Start: Saturday, January 21, 2017• 1:00 PM
End: Saturday, January 21, 2017• 3:00 PM
A peaceful, non-partisan, all-inclusive assembly - In the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity and justice who have come before us, we stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers gathering in Washington D.C. and in cities and towns around the country.
We stand together with our partners, children, friends and neighbors for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. We call on defenders of human rights and civil liberties to join us.
We encourage participants to bring signs of a positive and hopeful nature. Participants assume responsibility for their actions. Let’s all gather and assume responsibility for maintaining a community that opposes sexism, bigotry, racism, hate or intolerance.
Whatever our community is and will be, starts with us.
Parking: We will Rally in the city park. If walking/marching is a challenge, this event is a "march in place". Please feel free to bring a lawn chair. Public parking is very close; at the park itself, at the Post Office across the street to the east, and at the City Hall across the street to the north. Please DO NOT park in front of the Fire Hall adjacent to the park.
Speakers: We have a couple of confirmed speakers, Dr. Robert Townsend, 2016 candidate for Michigan's 97th House District, and Tom Koch, Clare County Democratic Party. We may have other speakers. Speeches will be brief, allowing time to move around and keep warm and network with each other.
